Job Description
Executive Chef opportunity on Shelter Island for a strong Sous Chef or kitchen leader ready to step up. Earn up to $2,000 per week with housing and lead a high-volume waterfront kitchen this summer. Housing is available and ready for immediate move-in. Compensation Up to $2,000 per week End-of-season bonus Performance bonus tied to cost control Dining perks Schedule Seasonal position: May through October Full-time, 5 days per week Peak-season schedule with extended service periods About the Role This is an Executive Chef position at SALT, a high-volume waterfront restaurant on Shelter Island operating at full capacity throughout the summer season. The kitchen is seafood-driven with a coastal focus, built for speed, consistency, and sustained volume. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will step in immediately to organize the kitchen, set expectations, and lead the team through peak season. Responsibilities Lead daily kitchen operations during high-volume service Manage, schedule, and develop a seasonal BOH team Maintain consistency, quality, and execution under pressure Control food cost, ordering, and inventory systems Establish structure and accountability across shifts Uphold food safety and sanitation standards Qualifications 3+ years as an Executive Chef or senior kitchen leader Strong high-volume or seasonal experience required Proven ability to manage food cost and labor targets Comfortable leading teams in fast-paced environments Seafood or coastal cuisine experience preferred ServSafe certification required What Makes This Role Attractive Up to $2,000 per week during peak season Housing available for the full season Opportunity to step into leadership and take control immediately High-volume waterfront restaurant with consistent demand Ability to shape the kitchen early in the season How to Apply Apply with a resume and two professional references.
