Job Description

Mattos Hospitality — the restaurant group behind Michelin-starred estela and beloved Altro Paradiso — is seeking an ambitious, creative, and highly organized Training & Development Chef to join our culinary leadership team. This is a unique opportunity for a chef who loves more than service. We are looking for someone who is energized by menu development, culinary innovation, team training, operational excellence, and special projects. Working closely with our Culinary Director, Chef teams, and restaurant leadership, the Training & Development Chef will play a key role in shaping the future of our culinary programs while supporting day-to-day operations across all Mattos Hospitality concepts. If you are passionate about developing people, refining systems, building menus, and bringing new ideas to life, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across one of New York City's most respected restaurant groups.
Responsibilities:
Culinary Development Partner with culinary leadership on menu development, recipe testing, and the rollout of new culinary initiatives across the company. Training & Team Development Support the growth and development of culinary teams through coaching, training programs, and leadership development initiatives. Events & Special Projects Lead the culinary planning and execution of private events, collaborations, special dinners, and company-wide projects. Operational Excellence Provide hands-on support across restaurant locations, helping drive consistency, efficiency, and the highest standards of execution. Innovation & Growth Contribute to new openings, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement projects that help shape the future of Mattos Hospitality.
Desired Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Sous Chef, Executive Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine, Corporate Chef, or similar leadership role in a high-volume, quality-driven kitchen Strong culinary foundation with a passion for teaching, coaching, and developing others Experience with menu development, recipe writing, costing, and operational implementation Exceptional organizational and project management skills Ability to adapt quickly and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment Excellent communication and leadership skills Flexible availability, including occasional evenings, weekends, and event support Ability to travel between restaurant locations and event sites as needed
