The ideal candidate has 1-2 years of sushi-making experience, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and grow within a team-oriented environment. We are looking for someone who takes direction well, works efficiently with others, and is committed to delivering high-quality food and exceptional guest experiences. Responsibilities Prepare sushi, sashimi, rolls, and other Japanese-inspired dishes with consistency and attention to detail. Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and portion control. Follow recipes, preparation methods, and plating standards as directed by management and senior chefs. Ensure all seafood, produce, and ingredients are handled, stored, and prepared according to food safety standards. Assist with daily prep work, station setup, and closing duties. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of workstations and kitchen areas. Work collaboratively with kitchen team members to ensure efficient service during busy periods. Monitor inventory levels and communicate product needs to management. Support menu execution and assist with special menu items when needed. Continuously improve knife skills, sushi techniques, and product knowledge. Qualifications Minimum 1-2 years of experience preparing sushi in a restaurant environment. Previous experience in Japanese cuisine is preferred. Basic knowledge of fish fabrication, sushi rice preparation, knife skills, and sushi rolling techniques. Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper ingredient handling. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills. Willingness to take instruction, learn new techniques, and adapt to operational needs. Positive attitude, reliability, and professionalism. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive kitchen tasks. Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
