Job Description

Little Fish is among the highest regarded restaurants in Long Island's Wine Country. Adjacent to a miles. long sandy beach in a beautiful residential neighborhood, Little Fish preaches the gospel of local seafood and produce while remaining accessible and appropriate for families, locals, tourists , and gourmands alike. With frequent live music, bright colors, and airy beach front vibe, Little Fish is the pure expression of the North Fork summer. Located in a coastal tourism market with dramatic seasonal shifts, Little Fish operates within a seasonal environment where summer volume, local loyalty, tourism traffic, and community presence all play a major role in the rhythm of the business. The kitchen must be able to execute consistently through both high-volume peak seasons and quieter local-driven periods, while maintaining quality, warmth, and operational discipline year-round. Position Overview The Sous Chef will support all BOH operations including working the line & service execution, prep systems, staff training, ordering, and daily leadership alongside highly regarded Head Chef Robert Gurvich This role is highly hands-on and ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys building strong systems and team culture. Position starts immediately and housing is available with relocation assistance TBD. Responsibilities Support daily kitchen operations and lead service execution Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training BOH staff Maintain prep systems, pars, cleanliness, and food safety standards Support inventory management and ordering Ensure consistency in food quality and presentation Step into leadership responsibilities during service and chef absence Foster a collaborative, respectful kitchen culture Qualifications 2+ years in a Sous Chef or kitchen leadership role Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to lead calmly during high-volume service Experience in restaurant openings preferred Passion for hospitality and team development
