Chef for Summer Youth Cooking Program Manlius Pebble Hill School - 3.9 Syracuse, NY Job Details Seasonal $20 - $22 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Teamwork Cooking Working with children Food preparation Teaching Full Job Description Overview We are looking for an enthusiastic chef or sous chef to join our summer day camp team, leading a hands-on cooking program for campers in Grades 5-8. This full-time seasonal role runs from June 29 through August 7 and is perfect for someone who loves cooking, mentoring young students, and creating a fun, engaging kitchen environment.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Pay:
Lead Cooking Counselor:
$20-$22 per hour (based on experience) About the
Role:
Counselors will lead and support a hands-on cooking program where campers learn basic culinary skills, kitchen safety, and teamwork while preparing a variety of fun and age-appropriate recipes.
Responsibilities include:
Supervising and engaging groups of campers in Grades 5-8 Leading and assisting with hands-on cooking and baking activities Teaching basic kitchen skills, food safety, and proper use of equipment Creating a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment in the kitchen Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe cooking space Working collaboratively with fellow staff
Qualifications:
Experience working with children (school, camp, daycare, youth programs, etc.) Experience in cooking for large groups Reliability, professionalism, and strong communication skills Ability to manage and engage groups of older elementary and middle school students We offer a supportive team environment, well-organized programming, and a rewarding opportunity to share your love of cooking while making a positive impact on campers' summer experience.
