PM Position Overview:
We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Chef to join our team and assist in the preparation of meals for students in a preschool and after-school environment. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that our students receive appetizing, nutritious meals in a safe and sanitary setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in managing the kitchen before and during meal services, ensuring efficient and timely meal preparation. Prepare appetizing and nutritious meals according to a set menu, adhering to required portion sizes for children and the USDA national food standards. Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment, following all health and safety guidelines. Candidate must have a ServSafe or Food Handling certificate. Assist in planning food purchases and placing orders with approved vendors. Receive and check-in food deliveries, review, sign, and date invoices, and submit them to the accounting office. Collaborate in menu planning, ensuring adherence to USDA and Child & Adult Care Food Program nutrition guidelines. Document and maintain accurate daily food production records; submit required reports as needed. Participate in nutrition education activities and engage with children during meal times as needed. Attend and contribute to in-service training sessions and other meetings as required. Exercise patience and teamwork, working collaboratively with peers, students, and parents.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Experience cooking full meals in a school kitchen is strongly preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of paid quantity cooking experience in a school setting is preferred.
