Description:
A kind UHNW gentleman is seeking an experienced Private Chef to support his household with thoughtful, nutritious, and high-quality meals. This is an exceptional opportunity for a chef who enjoys creating elevated yet approachable cuisine and values building meaningful relationships within a private household environment. The ideal candidate understands that private service is about more than cooking—it is about consistency, flexibility, hospitality, and becoming a trusted presence within the principal's orbit. The principal values genuine connection and views those who work in his home as people he wants to know and build lasting relationships with. This role will primarily support lunch and dinner service for two individuals, the principal, who is experiencing early dementia, and his Caregiver, occasionally expanding to up to four people when the principal hosts guests. Flexibility is appreciated for occasional entertaining, with advance notice provided whenever possible.
SCHEDULE & TRAVEL
Monday-Friday | Full-Time Hours The Private Chef will primarily provide lunch and dinner service Monday through Friday, with grocery shopping, menu planning, kitchen organization, and weekend meal preparation built into the weekly schedule. While the role centers around lunch and dinner service, the principal values flexibility and understands there may be downtime between meal periods for shopping, sourcing, and prep work. Because the principal is experiencing early dementia, flexibility around meal timing is important. While there is general structure to the day, mealtimes may occasionally shift based on routines, preferences, or how the day is unfolding. The ideal chef will be patient, adaptable, and understanding of the flexibility often needed when supporting older adults in a private home environment. By Friday evening, the kitchen and refrigerator should be thoughtfully stocked with fresh meals, snacks, and suitable leftovers for the weekend for two individuals, including both cold and reheatable options. Travel with the principal is preferred but not required. Travel may occur 2-3 weeks per year to various residences or properties and would be coordinated in advance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and serve fresh lunch and dinner Monday-Friday Thoughtfully set the table and provide meal service when requested, creating a warm and welcoming dining experience Create and stock pre-prepared weekend meals (both cold and reheatable options) for lunches and dinners Ensure the kitchen and refrigerator are thoughtfully stocked with prepared foods, healthy snacks, and staples Source groceries and household culinary essentials while maintaining a fully stocked kitchen Utilize farm-fresh produce grown on the estate Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient kitchen environment, including kitchen clean-up, resetting, and preparation for the following meal service Prepare meals for occasional guests Collaborate with the principal to understand preferences while introducing fresh ideas and variety Coordinate food sourcing, shopping, and inventory management Independently manage all aspects of the culinary experience, including prep, cooking, service, and kitchen reset Please note: There is currently no kitchen or household support staff assisting in this area of the home, so the chef should be comfortable taking full ownership of the culinary program and day-to-day kitchen operations.
CULINARY STYLE & PREFERENCES
The principal enjoys healthy, clean, straightforward meals with a broad palate. He appreciates flavorful food without overly heavy sauces or overly formal presentation. Meals are typically family-style, creating a warm and relaxed dining experience.
Favorite foods and preferences include:
Fresh, seasonal vegetables and farm-to-table ingredients A variety of proteins with a lighter preparation style Southern-inspired comfort foods in moderation (fried fish, cornbread, fried green tomatoes, coleslaw, chicken salad) Fresh breads and homemade baked goods, such as cookies Nutritious meals focused on maintaining health and wellness Limited use of high-mercury fish The principal is adventurous and open to trying new dishes while still appreciating comforting favorites.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal chef will be: Warm, personable, and relationship-oriented Passionate about creating nourishing, delicious food Flexible and adaptable to household needs and changing schedules Comfortable supporting elderly principals and understanding of the flexibility often needed in those environments Comfortable in a private home environment with discretion and professionalism Excited by farm-to-table cooking and working with fresh produce grown onsite Organized and proactive with shopping, stocking, and meal planning Comfortable working independently and taking full ownership of the kitchen Local preferred, though the family is open to exceptional relocation candidates
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
$115,000+ annual salary DOE Employee health insurance Relocation assistance available (if necessary) Additional benefits to be discussed during the hiring process
MORE THAN A CHEF
This is a rare opportunity to work for a genuinely kind and relationship-oriented gentleman who values connection, conversation, and the people he welcomes into his home.
