Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to work aboard a marine vessel. The position would require the chef to remain on the vessel 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The initial tenure or the trip will be for a full month. Afterwards, the chef would rotate with other chefs on a schedule to consist of two weeks on and one week off. Responsibilities
  • Assist the Executive Chef with the preparation and planning of meals;
  • Prepare meals from meal tickets;
  • Create Menu Specials
  • Create garnishments for food plates;
  • Ensure that all meals are ready in a timely manner;
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create new menu items and recipes
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure that all kitchen supplies are stocked and maintained
  • Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring that guests receive prompt and attentive service;
  • Help with kitchen maintenance and cleaning, ensuring that the kitchen is clean and organized at all times;
  • Maintain accurate records of food inventory and waste, ensuring that operations are efficient and waste is minimized;
  • Help procure and stock groceries;
  • Label all food according to the first in first out method. Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen operations
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety and quality control procedures
  • Experience with inventory management and control systems
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree or certification preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and guests
  • Physical stamina to work long hours in a demanding kitchen environment Miscellaneous
  • Ability to secure a Food Handler's Certificate
  • Applicant will have to undergo fingerprinting and background check
  • Position requires a Doctor's statement that the chef does not have any communicable diseases
