Position Overview The Event Sous Chef is the second-in-command within the culinary team and directly supports the Executive Chef in preparing, executing, and delivering exceptional food service for catered events and hospitality experiences. This role assists with food production, staff coordination, kitchen organization, and event execution. The Event Sous Chef must be highly dependable, skilled in food preparation, and able to lead kitchen operations when the Executive Chef is unavailable or delegated. Key Responsibilities Culinary Support & Kitchen Execution Assist the Executive Chef with all food preparation, cooking, plating, and service execution. Supervise prep cooks and kitchen assistants as directed. Help maintain workflow, speed, and quality during prep and service. Step into leadership responsibilities when delegated by the Executive Chef. Ensure dishes are prepared consistently and according to company standards. Prep Production & Event Readiness Prepare ingredients, sauces, proteins, sides, desserts, and other menu components. ○ Execute prep lists accurately and efficiently before events. ○ Assist with loading, transport prep, and setup for off-site catering events. ○ Ensure kitchen stations are organized, stocked, and ready for service. Event Service & Coordination Support buffet setup, plating lines, food replenishment, and service timing. Coordinate with servers, bartenders, and Operations Manager to maintain event timelines. Respond quickly to changing event needs or service demands. Help ensure smooth kitchen-to-floor communication during events. Sanitation, Safety & Organization Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, tools, and food prep spaces. Follow food safety, storage, labeling, and sanitation procedures. Ensure safe handling of knives, equipment, and hot food items. Assist with post-event cleanup, breakdown, and kitchen reset. Professional Standards & Collaboration Arrive on time, dressed appropriately, and ready to work. Communicate effectively with the President & CEO and Operations Manager Maintain a polished, professional presence at all times.
