  • Full-time We are Essen Catering! Launched in 2021, we are a small, yet ever-growing, catering company based out of Conroe, TX that explores a variety of cultures through cuisines! We cater social gatherings, corporate events, and weddings across the greater Houston area, with menus built around client vision and seasonal produce. We're a small, chef-driven team
  • no commissary factory work, just real food for real events. We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, and reliable person to join us as a Prep Cook/Event Chef. Schedule Full-time available, non-exempt position. Hours generally fall between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm Tuesday
  • Friday (prep shifts) with event times ranging on the weekends. Hours fluctuate heavily based on event/busy season. Night and weekend availability is required. Compensation Base pay ranges between $15
  • 17 per hour, commensurate with experience plus tips!
! W2 Employee. Expectation Reporting to the Executive Chef of ESSEN Catering and working closely with the rest of the ESSEN Catering team, the Prep Cook/Party Chef assists in the prep and production of excellent meals that our clients rave about. You'll work alongside the head chef and sous chef on daily production. Most days, you will begin at 10:00 am, knocking out mis en place, family meals, event prep, and tasting menus. Most events take place Friday, Saturday and possibly Sunday where you will work the line on-site, plate, and help execute the party. You are a versatile team player, communicating and assisting proactively. You adapt to the changing environments and needs while contributing to team cohesion and ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained. The team enjoys being around you and you don't hesitate to do the dirty work when it needs to be done.
Kitchen Prep & Event Production:
At the event, either check in with the Executive Chef or Event Manager. Attend pre-shift meetings led by Lead Chef and/or Onsite Event Manager. Unpack prepped items, set up the kitchen, perform assigned tasks and stick to the timeline. Work a station throughout the event, ensure all food is properly plated and sent out. Pack and label any leftovers in accordance with company standards and safety guidelines. Assist with other duties as needed (cutting cake, refreshing stations, sharing menu or process interactively with guests, or otherwise). Clean up and ensure all trash is removed in accordance with company, venue, and rental guidelines. At the kitchen, you will prep for events by following recipes and production sheets. You will work on tastings alongside the culinary team. Set up, cook, and break down on-site at events. Maintain a clean, organized station. Communicate clearly with head chef and sous chef on timing, counts, and quality.
Requirements :
  • Minimum (1) One Year Professional Kitchen Experience
REQUIRED
(catering, hotel or restaurant)
  • Solid knife skills, basic cooking techniques, and ability to follow a recipe to scale
  • Valid driver's license / Reliable transportation
  • Must Be Able to Lift 50+ Pounds (we load our own equipment & gear)
  • Food Handlers/ ServSafe Certification
  • Must be punctual
  • Must be trustworthy
