Job Description

Lantern is seeking a Sous Chef to help lead our kitchen with discipline, creativity, and consistency. This role is for someone who cares deeply about craft, mentorship, organization, and building a serious culinary culture from the ground up. Lantern is a chef-driven seasonal restaurant and coffee lounge focused on refined dining, live-fire influence, thoughtful hospitality, and ingredient-driven cooking. We are building a kitchen rooted in teamwork, accountability, and attention to detail — without ego. Responsibilities Assist the Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations Lead and manage line cooks during service Maintain consistency, organization, cleanliness, and urgency Assist with menu development, tastings, and seasonal changes Train and mentor kitchen staff Manage prep execution and station organization Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, and safety standards Help manage ordering, inventory, and waste control Maintain composure and leadership during high-volume services What We're Looking For Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to run service confidently and calmly Passion for seasonal and ingredient-focused cooking Attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship Team-oriented mentality with willingness to teach and grow others Experience in upscale, chef-driven, or fine dining kitchens preferred Open availability including nights and weekends Lantern Kitchen Philosophy We believe great kitchens are built on: Respect for the craft Consistency over ego Cleanliness and discipline Constant learning and refinement Creating memorable experiences through food and hospitality
Pay:
$49,618.61 - $59,755.74 per year
