The ideal candidate will play a vital role in delivering exceptional, personalized instruction that helps students build confidence, master evidence-based reading and writing skills, and achieve their highest potential on the SAT. This position is ideal for passionate educators who enjoy working one-on-one or in small groups, tailoring lessons to each student's goals and learning style. While the focus will be on SAT English preparation, candidates with experience in additional academic areas (e.g., college essays, AP English, or humanities subjects) are strongly encouraged to apply. Teachers enjoy flexible scheduling , the ability to set their own hours , and multi-month engagements that typically last 3-6 months per student (sometimes up to 10 months). The schedule primarily includes afterschool and weekend sessions , with accommodations made to align with your availability. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging, student-centered SAT English lessons focusing on reading comprehension, grammar, and rhetorical analysis. Provide individualized instruction based on diagnostic assessments and each student's strengths, weaknesses, and goals. Teach critical reading strategies, vocabulary in context, and writing mechanics aligned with the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) section. Communicate regularly with families and the academic team regarding progress and milestones. Maintain a supportive and structured learning environment that fosters confidence and growth. Optionally, assist with related academic areas such as college essays, AP English, or standardized test strategy. Requirements Bachelor's degree required (English, Education, Linguistics, Communications, or related field preferred). Proven experience teaching or tutoring SAT English, EBRW, or high school English. Strong command of grammar, syntax, reading comprehension strategies, and analytical writing. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Reliable transportation for in-person tutoring sessions. Professionalism, flexibility, and enthusiasm for helping students excel academically.
