POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Independent Living & Admissions Coach empowers privately paying residents with intellectual and developmental differences to achieve their highest level of independence and lead fulfilling lives through personalized education, support, and training. This role also supports The Arc Jacksonville Village by facilitating the eligibility and admissions process and maintaining clear, compassionate communication with prospective residents and their families.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Review and process survey information and documentation submitted by prospective candidates. Conduct community tours for interested candidates and their families to provide insight into available services and support. Independently manage and maintain a weekly schedule for an assigned caseload of 8-12 residents, including the flexibility to work non-traditional hours (e.g., evenings and weekends) as needed. Build and maintain strong relationships with each resident's natural support system. Participate in meetings and events such as Service Plan and Implementation Plan meetings to gain insight and contribute meaningfully to residents' success. Collaborate with residents, families, and staff through routine electronic and/or verbal communication to monitor and document progress. Support and educate residents in acquiring essential life skills, including but not limited to meal planning and preparation, financial literacy, housekeeping, personal hygiene, interpersonal communication, and community engagement. Advocate for individuals with differences by ensuring they are treated fairly and appropriately in all community settings. Respond promptly and appropriately to both routine and emergency resident issues with minimal supervision, always ensuring their safety and well-being. Engage in ongoing professional development by participating in trainings and applying new strategies to support residents' long-term independence. Provide reliable transportation using organization-owned vehicles to support residents' community inclusion, including trips for grocery shopping, emergency transportation, etc. Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Educate and promote awareness of The Arc Jacksonville's mission and vision through community involvement and inclusion of persons with differences. Maintain appropriate dress, good hygiene and professionalism. Maintain a positive driving record for shuttle services for residents and other work functions. Advocate for the rights of individuals with intellectual and developmental differences to participate in community life to the fullest extent possible. Able to recognize safety concerns and to take the appropriate action. Possess the emotional stability sufficient for performing all tasks related to the job including times of medical and behavioral crisis of residents. Review and comply with all The Arc Jacksonville's policies, procedures and directives, as well as those issued by the Agency for Persons with Disabilities. Formal Education - High school diploma or GED required. At least an Associate's degree• with a major in nursing, education, social/public health science with 1 year of experience in social/public health science. Experience can be substituted for required college on a year-for-year basis. Skills - Organization, written communication skills, interpersonal skills, de-escalation strategies, resiliency, resourcefulness, creativity, flexibility, collaborative thinking, effective decision-making, time management, empathy and crisis management skills. Experience - At least 1 year of direct service to persons with intellectual and/or developmental differences; preferred experience in personal caregiving, personal companion and/or support coaching Other - Must be 21 years or older. Must be able to pass background clearance checks. CPR/Basic First Aid Certification, Human Trafficking & Fair Housing Training, HIPAA Certification, Zero Tolerance (organization will provide). Mental Health First Aid Training.
SALARY:
