This position provides a crucial role in providing temporary relief and support to individuals and families who are caring for individuals with challenging circumstances. The primary goal of the respite provider is to offer caregivers a break from their caregiving responsibilities while ensuring the well-being and safety of the individual they are caring for. This role operates in various settings including client homes, schools and community. Starting pay rate from $15.00 Competitive pay based on education and experience.
Essential Functions:
Provide short-term, temporary relief to the caregiver of a client between the ages of birth and 21 and who has a mental health diagnosis. Respite services may include general supervision of the client, meal preparation, and hands-on assistance with personal care that are incidental to the supervision of the client. Plan and implement social, recreational, and educational activities and act as a positive role model. Participate as a member of inter-disciplinary treatment team to implement strategies to assist and encourage process towards meeting goals. Provide age-appropriate life skills building. Build and maintain professional relationships with parents/guardians to encourage communication and parental support. Complete progress notes and client documentation within specified timeframe.
Qualifications:
Be at least 21 years old. Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Trauma Informed, interpersonal skills, patience/tolerance, flexible/adaptable and problem-solving skills. Valid Driver's License and Car to
Travel Preferred Education and Experience:
An understanding of, how to understand and engage a person with of mental illness, psychiatric symptoms and impact on functioning and behavior. Concepts of recovery/resiliency CPR/First Aid Certified Why Work with
