Referral Specialist Key Responsibilities:
Essential Functions Under general supervision, the Referral Specialist is responsible for representing CPC as an exemplary clinic in the CSRA. The position is responsible for coordinating any additional care the patient may need inside and outside of our facility. The position is responsible for obtaining prior authorization needed for testing or services. Obtains referrals through internet, phone, or fax. Faxes referrals or orders to specialists and/or hospitals. Call clinical information to insurance companies for preauthorization of outpatient procedures. Schedules appointments according to office procedure and to patient's needs, notifies patients with appointment times. Attends insurance meetings and updates physicians and staff with changes. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines. Communicates effectively by telephone and to the patient at his/her level of understanding. Promotes positive public relations to patients, visitors, families, physicians, and others. Physical appearance and conduct are consistent with acceptable professional ethics and CPC standards. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude. Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize duties/tasks. Ability to initiate communication with patients. Must have excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to effectively calm patients and be able to deal with distressed and/or agitated patients and their families. Must have a professional demeanor and excellent public relations skills. Willingness to develop or improve public speaking skills. All essential functions must be performed. Education and Experience Requirements Education:
High School graduate or GED required.
Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year of Medical Office experience. Customer service experience helpful. Knowledge of medical terminology Basic to intermediate computer knowledge Ability to type Demonstrate positive customer service skills Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment, multi-tasking
