Job Description

Admiral's Experience, Inc. manages a full food service dining facility in Anchorage Alaska for Veterans. We are searching for a cook to become part of our team. Job brief We are looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals according to cycle menu. You will cook dishes that will delight our customers with their taste and timely delivery, helping to preserve and enhance our reputation with the customer. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals as well as following all health and safety rules in the kitchen. They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is also important as all items are scratch made. Also, applicants must be able to pass a federal background check and have either a Real ID or passport. Duties Include (but are not limited to):
  • Setting up workstations with needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Preparing ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
  • Cooking food using various commercial equipment and utensils

  • Cook food in various utensils or grillers
  • Check food while cooking; stir or turn
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
  • Ensure all food and other items are used and stored properly
  • Check quality of ingredients
  • Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
  • Lift 50 pounds unassisted
  • Proven experience as cook
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  • Ability to follow all sanitation and safety procedures
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Great communication skills
  • Excellent physical condition and stamina
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage
  • Manager ServSafe certification required but will assist you in attaining if you have at least a food handler certification.
  • Assist in the preparation and production of meals according to recipes and portion sizes
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a clean and safe work environment
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure efficient meal preparation and service
  • Maintain inventory of food supplies and notify supervisor of any shortages or discrepancies
  • Adhere to dietary restrictions and special requests for meal preparation
  • Previous experience in food handling or a related role is preferred
  • Knowledge of dietary aide practices and procedures is a plus
  • Familiarity with working in a dietary department or similar food service setting is beneficial
  • Ability to perform basic meal preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and assembling dishes
  • Understanding of food safety regulations and best practices in the culinary industry
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
