Job Description

Western Arkansas Counseling & Guidance Center (WACGC) is a community mental health center serving consumers for 50 years. It is our mission to meet the mental health needs of our community through an array of offered services. The Center will be hiring two cooks. Responsible for preparing nutritious and appetizing food for consumers following established recipes adhering to federal/state/local standards and guidelines in proper food storage, handling and preparation. You will be responsible for preparing and serving breakfast, lunch, and snacks to consumers. One of the positions will be a supervisory position. Must possess the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
DEPENDING ON THE COMMUNITY
-Adheres to therapeutic and mechanically altered diet extensions. Essential Job Functions Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus Service food in accordance with established portion control procedures Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special requests Ensure food is prepared at proper temperatures and associated checklists and logs are completed Assist with inventory management and the receiving of goods from vendors Follow safe food handling training and policies and procedures including appropriate glove use. Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of professional food preparation and service experience Knowledge of food handler and safety regulations Excellent verbal/ written and problem solving skills Must be detail oriented Ability to multi-task while working; always operating as part of a team Background in Special Child Nutrition is preferred Education Requirement High School degree or GED degree. Competencies Customer service orientation Time management Ability to multi-task Physical Demands Stands and walks continuously throughout the work day Ability to reach, stoop, bend, lift, carry various food products, dietary supplies and equipment Visual acuity and color discrimination for examining cooked and stored food Ability to lift 50 pounds
