POSITION SUMMARYA
residential treatment center cook prepares and serves nutritious meals for clients, adhering to dietary restrictions and facility menus. This role involves managing kitchen operations, including food preparation, sanitation, and inventory, while ensuring a clean and safe environment. Key duties include collaborating on meal plans, cooking food to correct temperatures, and maintaining high food safety and sanitation standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Meal preparation: Prepare, cook, and serve three daily meals, snacks, and beverages according to standardized menus and special dietary needs.
Dietary compliance:
Strictly follow nutritional guidelines and clinical instructions for therapeutic and modified diets (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic, pureed).
Sanitation and safety:
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, follow all food safety protocols (e.g., temperature monitoring, cleaning equipment), and ensure the facility meets health and safety standards.
Inventory and procurement:
Assist with food ordering, receive and inspect deliveries, monitor inventory, and manage stock to prevent waste.
Collaboration:
Work with Lead Cook to plan menus, review resident meal plans, and address dietary needs.
Kitchen management:
Works with Lead cook to ensure systems in place. Other duties as assigned Essential skills and qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Food Handler's Permit and CPR certification. Prior cooking experience, preferably in a residential, healthcare, or institutional setting. Knowledge of kitchen sanitation, food safety principles and food preparation techniques. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with a team. Strong organizational skills to manage inventory, work schedules, and meal preparation.

Must be able to handle frequent interruptions and meet deadlines. Employees must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
