Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled cook to join our team, bringing expertise in food service, culinary preparation, and dietary management. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the food industry, with hands-on experience in dietary and kitchen operations. As a cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of nutritious, high-quality meals while maintaining safety standards and fostering a positive environment for staff and residents alike. Responsibilities Prepare and serve meals according to established menus, ensuring quality and presentation meet high standards. Assist in menu planning by incorporating nutritional guidelines and accommodating dietary restrictions. Handle food with proper safety and sanitation practices to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with health regulations. Support food preparation activities, including chopping, cooking, plating, and portioning of meals. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils to uphold hygiene standards. Collaborate with the dietary department to customize menus for special diets or individual preferences. Provide excellent food service by serving residents or guests efficiently while maintaining professionalism and friendliness. Utilize knife skills and culinary techniques learned from restaurant or food industry experience to enhance meal quality. Requirements Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide within healthcare or senior living settings preferred. Demonstrated background in food handling, food safety protocols, and meal preparation. Experience with menu planning, cooking, and food service operations in a restaurant or catering environment. Strong knowledge of kitchen practices, including knife skills, food industry standards, and culinary techniques. Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and ensure smooth meal service delivery. Familiarity with catering services or large-scale food production is advantageous but not mandatory. Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming kitchen environment aligned with health regulations. $18.50 - $19.50 per hour
