Job Summary We are an award winning sushi restaurant from Laguna Beach, opening up our second location in the heart of Encinitas. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong understanding of food safety and handling practices. As a Prep Cook, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our kitchen operates smoothly by preparing ingredients, assisting with menu planning, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization. Responsibilities Prepare and portion ingredients according to recipes and menu specifications. Assist in the preparation of meals for catering events and daily service. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including proper storage of food items. Follow all food safety guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our guests. Collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service. Help with menu planning by providing input on seasonal ingredients and dish ideas. Participate in inventory management by tracking supplies and notifying management of shortages. Requirements Previous experience in food preparation or a similar role within the restaurant or food industry is preferred. Knowledge of food handling practices and food safety regulations is essential. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. A passion for cooking and willingness to learn new techniques in the culinary field.
