Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Line Cook to join our kitchen team in Fontana. This is a part-time position, perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen environment and is passionate about preparing authentic Mexican food.

Schedule:

25-35 hours per week

Pay Range:

$16.90 to start. Responsibilities Prepare authentic Mexican dishes according to recipes and chef specifications Properly measure, portion, and cook all food items, including meats, beans, rice, tortillas, salsas, and other menu items in a timely manner Maintain proper cooking temperatures for all proteins and ensure food is stored safely according to health department standards Monitor food temperatures throughout service and record on temperature logs Prep Work - chop vegetables, prepare sauces, portion ingredients for service Operate kitchen equipment, including griddles, fryers, steamers, ovens, and charbroilers Work multiple stations during service - grill, sauté, prep, or wherever needed Maintain food quality standards and plate presentation for all dishes Follow waste control guidelines and record all waste on the spoilage sheet Perform opening, closing, and side work duties according to proper guidelines Keep workstation and equipment clean, organized, and sufficiently stocked throughout the shift Restock ingredients and supplies during service to maintain efficiency Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff and the front of house team Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures at all times Work efficiently during high-volume periods, including Friday and Saturday late-night rushes

Qualifications Experience & Skills:

Minimum 1 year of experience as a prep cook or line cook (Mexican restaurant experience strongly preferred) Ability to move rapidly and coordinate multiple orders during busy service periods Knowledge of authentic Mexican cooking techniques and traditional recipes preferred Ability to follow procedures and take directions from kitchen management Basic math skills to understand, calculate, and follow recipe measurements and proportions Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred No high school diploma or GED required

Physical Requirements:

Manual dexterity sufficient to chop, mix, blend, and prepare a variety of foods Ability to carry large pans and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds Ability to operate kitchen equipment, including knives, slicers, mixers, and cooking equipment Constant standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the entire shift Repetitive motions, including chopping, stirring, and lifting Exposure to variable temperatures, including heat from grills, fryers, and ovens

Additional Requirements:

Food Handler's Certificate is strongly preferred but not required.
