Job Description
:
POSITION
The Cook prepares food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and within established facility policies and procedures. The Cook ensures that quality food and excellent customer service is always provided.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Always follows food safety regulations and guidelines and ensures that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
- Reviews menus prior to preparation of food and ensures that menus are maintained and filed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Inspects special diet trays to ensure that the correct diet is served to the patient/resident.
- Performs administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submits to the Director of Dietary.
- Coordinates dietary services with other departments as necessary.
- Works with the facility's dietitian as necessary and implements recommended changes as required.
- Assists in establishing food service production line processes to ensure that meals are prepared on time.
- Implements diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing Services.
- Reports significant observations to appropriate clinical staff including, but not limited to RN/LVN/LPN, Charge Nurse, Director of Nursing Services, and Physicians.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One (1) year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred.
- Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish this job.
- Must have the ability to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with the other associates .
- Must maintain regular attendance.
- Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam, i f required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.
- Must be able to communicate verbally in a positive and professional manner.
- Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation .
