Dining Services plays an important role in supporting the health, well-being, and daily experience of our students, faculty, staff, and guests. Position Summary Reporting directly to the Sous Chef or Executive Sous Chef, the Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items for students, faculty, staff, and guests while maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency, sanitation, and hospitality. Key Responsibilities Food Production Prepare hot and cold menu items according to recipes and production schedules. Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Apply cooking techniques such as grilling, roasting, sautéing, steaming, baking, and braising. Assist with special events and catering production. Quality and Service Maintain food quality, presentation, and portion standards. Ensure proper holding temperatures and product freshness. Support meal service and interact positively with students and faculty. Food Safety Follow HACCP and food safety procedures. Properly label, date, rotate, and store food products. Maintain a clean and organized workstation. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in hot, cold, and fast-paced kitchen environments. Ability to perform repetitive motions and operate commercial kitchen equipment safely. Qualifications California Food Handler Card required. 2+ years of cooking experience preferred. Experience in high-volume food service preferred. Salary range:
$22/hr-$30/hr annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Pay:
$22.00 - $30.00 per hour
