Desert Oasis Recovery is seeking a dependable and experienced Part-Time Chef / Cook to prepare nutritious, appealing, and well-balanced meals for clients in our residential treatment facility. This position will work 5 days per week and will be responsible for preparing and serving hot lunch and dinner for facility clients, while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. The ideal candidate is reliable, professional, efficient, and comfortable working in a behavioral health treatment setting. We are looking for someone who understands the importance of providing quality meals in a respectful and supportive environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook hot lunch and dinner for clients 5 days per week Plan and prepare meals that are nutritious, balanced, and appropriate for a residential treatment setting Follow food safety, sanitation, and kitchen cleanliness standards at all times Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, food prep areas, and food storage areas Monitor food inventory and notify management of needed supplies and grocery items Properly store, label, and handle food in accordance with health and safety requirements Accommodate dietary restrictions, food allergies, and special meal needs as directed Ensure meals are prepared on time and in appropriate quantities for the number of clients served Assist with basic kitchen recordkeeping as needed Work cooperatively with facility staff and maintain a professional demeanor at all times

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a cook, chef, or food service worker required Experience preparing meals for groups, facilities, schools, treatment centers, or similar settings preferred Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices required Ability to prepare consistent, quality meals in a timely manner Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen Dependable attendance and punctuality required Ability to communicate professionally with staff and clients Experience working in healthcare, behavioral health, residential, or recovery settings is a plus Food handler certification or ability to obtain one, if required Must not be excluded, suspended, debarred, or otherwise ineligible to participate in

Medicare, Medicaid, or Medi-Cal Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift and carry food, supplies, and kitchen items as needed Ability to perform routine kitchen cleaning and food preparation tasks

Work Environment:

This position works within a residential substance use disorder treatment facility. Professionalism, reliability, and respect for client confidentiality are essential.
