CAPSLO is looking for a Cook to help provide nutritious meals for our childcare programs, ensuring that the food service operation runs smoothly and effectively. This is more than just a job; it's an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of individuals and families in our community.
Qualifications:
Has a combination of two years of experience in institutional or commercial food services and/or culinary science education. Has experience cooking for large groups is preferred. Is bilingual, English and Spanish preferred. Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver's license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required to fulfill job-related travel. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable laws.
As a Cook you will:
Assist the Food Production Supervisor in preparing and serving breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines. Help create, test, and standardize recipes that meet nutritional requirements. Pack and deliver food to multiple centers, maintaining high standards for food quality and safety. Manage inventory by receiving and storing food service supplies correctly. Keep detailed records of deliveries, equipment maintenance, and financials. Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen environment and ensure thorough cleanup after meal service. Drive the food service delivery vehicle and communicate daily with Center Supervisors and Teachers about each delivery. Participate in workshops and career development activities to enhance your skills.
