11:30 AM 8:00 PM ________________________________________ Position Summary We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Cook to join our Dietary Services team in a skilled nursing facility. This role is essential in providing high-quality, nutritious, and appetizing meals that meet the individualized medical and dietary needs of our residents. The ideal candidate has a genuine love for food and takes pride in preparing meals that enhance the health, comfort, and daily experience of our residents. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals in accordance with physicianordered diets, including therapeutic and texturemodified diets. Follow standardized recipes and menus to ensure meals meet nutritional requirements and quality standards. Ensure all food is prepared, handled, and served in compliance with federal (CMS) and California Title 22 regulations. Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation practices, including proper cooking temperatures, storage, and prevention of crosscontamination. Review resident diet cards and meal tickets to ensure accuracy and compliance with prescribed dietary restrictions. Assist with food preparation, portioning, plating, and service to ensure meals are attractive and palatable. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment at all times. Collaborate with dietary team members, including dietitians and supervisors, to support residentcentered care. Follow established meal schedules and ensure timely meal service. ________________________________________ Qualifications Previous cooking experience in healthcare, longterm care, or highvolume food service preferred. Knowledge of therapeutic diets and modified food textures is highly desirable. Understanding of food safety standards (FDA Food Code, HACCP principles) and sanitation practices. Ability to read and follow standardized recipes and diet orders accurately. Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fastpaced environment. Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team. Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) required. ________________________________________ Regulatory & Compliance Expectations This position must operate in accordance with: Federal CMS regulations (42 CFR §483.60) requiring meals that are nourishing, wellbalanced, and tailored to each resident's medical and personal needs. () California Title 22 regulations, including requirements for therapeutic diets, maintaining resident diet profiles, and preparing meals that preserve nutritional value, flavor, and appearance. () Food safety standards including proper temperature control, sanitation, and safe food handling to protect a highly vulnerable population.
