Job Description The Line Cook plays a key role in delivering an exceptional Café experience by preparing and executing high-quality food with consistency, efficiency, and attention to detail. Working closely with the Head Chef and Assistant Line Cook, this position is responsible for daily food preparation, line execution, kitchen organization, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This is a full-time position requiring five shifts per week, including weekends and holidays, with occasional evening hours for special events. The Line Cook reports directly to the Head Chef. Key Responsibilities Prepare and execute menu items accurately, efficiently, and consistently during service. Complete daily prep work to ensure the kitchen is fully stocked and ready for service. Open and close the kitchen according to established procedures and checklists. Maintain organization and cleanliness of all kitchen equipment, workstations, storage areas, and dishwashing areas. Wash dishes and kitchen equipment as needed to support daily operations. Receive, inspect, organize, and properly store vendor deliveries while assisting with inventory management and stock rotation. Communicate inventory shortages and product needs to the Head Chef in a timely manner. Work collaboratively with kitchen and hospitality staff to ensure a seamless guest experience. Assist with on-site and off-site special events, catering, and winery functions as assigned. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards. Represent Ancient Peaks Winery with professionalism, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Chef or Director of Hospitality. Qualifications Minimum of two years of experience in a fast-paced commercial kitchen or food service environment. Current California Food Handler Card (or ability to obtain upon hire). Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment, including slicers, fryers, flat-top griddles, and other standard kitchen equipment. Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistent food quality and presentation standards. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multitask and remain calm and efficient during busy service periods. Dependable, coachable, and committed to maintaining high standards. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Flexible schedule with availability to work weekends, holidays, wine club events, and special winery functions. Must be fluent in English. High school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 21 years of age.
Physical and Mental Requirements :
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive motions. Ability to safely move inventory, equipment, tables, and supplies using carts or dollies as needed. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions while working in a fast-paced environment. Compensation This is a full-time, hourly position and is eligible to participate in the employee tip pool, with tips distributed based on company policy.
