Perform food service activities that meet CCR Title XXII, and other regulatory health and safety standards. Able to prepare quality food in a timely and creative manner, ensuring resident's satisfaction and eye appeal. Follows recipes at varying levels of difficulty so completed menu items are ready at the correct temperature and time. Cooks meats and vegetables, prepare baked goods, cut and trim meat, and cook a variety of regular and special diet foods and meals for the residents and employees. Responsible for creating menus and cooking daily. Examines foods for quality and freshness, monitor temperatures and steam pressures, and turn and baste meat for flavor and proper cooking. Maintains food storage, preparation and cooking areas in a clean, neat, and orderly manner. Cares for and uses equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Cleans and maintains food cooking equipment including but not limited to ovens, sinks, freezers, refrigerators, slicers, stoves, dishwashers, walk in coolers, utensils, etc. Provides transportation in agency vehicle for agency business (residents, s upplies, food, etc.). Follows established procedures and standard of cleanliness, health, and safety. Reports and removes any safety hazards. Maintains personal appearance, hygiene and uniform policies and standards. Supports teamwork and interpersonal interaction with residents and staff members. Performs other duties as assigned.
GENERAL EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Education — High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; additional education in food service preferred. Experience — Minimum of one-year related experience; two years preferred. Experience in a residential facility but not required. Language Ability — Ability to read, write and understand documents such as safety rules, operating manuals and maintenance instructions.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or
Experience:
A minimum of a high-school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years proven experience cooking in a high-volume food service establishment. Appropriate volunteer and internship experience will be considered. Appropriate volunteer and internship experience will be considered.
License:
A valid California driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a good driving record asdocumented by a DMV report.
Special Requirements:
Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance as required by Title XXII, licensing regulations. This includes FBI and DOJ clearance. A health screening, by or under the direction of a physician must have been performed not more than one year prior to employment or within seven (7) days after employment. Health screening must include TB clearance not more than one year prior to employment or within seven (7) days after employment. Must have a current standard first aid card from an accredited institution. Must be physically able to assist residents and/or staff in the evacuation of program facility in emergency situations. Must be able to administer first aid in an emergency situation.

Physical Requirements of Position:
The following are required in day-to-day performance of the duties of this position: Use of all kitchen equipment including electric slicer, mixer, tilt skillet, deep-fat fryer, ovens, sharp cutting tools and cleaning chemicals; standing, walking, pushing, and pulling of weight; repetitive use of hands to include grasping, both firm and light, kneading, keying, and exposure to chemicals and water; lifting and carrying of 0-10 lbs. floor to chest and overhead; frequent lifting and carrying of 11-30 lbs. floor to chest; occasional lifting and carrying of over 30 lbs. floor to chest; and frequent stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing (ladder). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Actual Experience Working in a
Community Care Licensed Facility:
Although not required for this position, demonstrated previous work experience at a facility licensed by the Department of Social Service California Community Care Licensing Program (CCL) is preferred.
