Position Overview:
The Dietary Cook role functions to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulation, with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Dietitian and/or Dietary Services Supervisor, to assure that quality food service is provided at all times. As Cook, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. Prepare palatable and appetizing meals in accordance with planned menus and temperature requirements on a timely basis. Prepare food for therapeutic and texture modified diets in accordance with planned menus with established portion control procedures. Assist in preparing and serving residents nutritional snacks and nourishments as ordered as needed. Be sure that appropriate equipment and utensils are provided with the resident's meal tray, including special equipment, isolation equipment, etc. as ordered. Prepare and serve alternate food choices to residents who refuse foods served in compliance with the resident's diet order.
Qualifications:
High School Graduate One (1) year dietary experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred but not required. One (1) year cooking experience required. Knowledge of special diets and safe food handling practices. California Food Handler Card (required), ServSafe Certification is preferred.
