Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Hot Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality Chinese dishes according to restaurant recipes and standards. This role requires speed, precision, and attention to detail while working on the hot line, including stir-frying, wok cooking, grilling, and sautéing. The Hot Line Cook ensures that dishes are prepared consistently, presented beautifully, and delivered in a timely manner to provide an excellent dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook Chinese cuisine dishes on the hot line, including wok and stir-fry items, soups, and other hot entrées. Follow restaurant recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards. Operate and maintain kitchen equipment (woks, steamers, fryers, grills, etc.) safely and efficiently. Work quickly and efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining food quality. Ensure proper seasoning, flavor balance, and authenticity in dishes. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the hot line and workstations. Follow food safety and sanitation procedures at all times. Assist with prep work, stocking, and restocking of line items as needed. Communicate effectively with kitchen team and management to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a line cook, preferably in a Chinese or Asian cuisine restaurant. Strong wok cooking and stir-fry skills (or willingness to train). Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment. Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation. Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player.
Work Environment:
This position requires working in a hot, fast-paced kitchen with direct use of flames, woks, fryers, and other high-heat equipment. Opportunities for
