The Part-Time Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals in accordance with approved menus, food safety standards, and organizational policies. This position supports daily kitchen operations, ensuring meals are prepared efficiently, safely, and on schedule while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Reports To Kitchen Manager / Food Services Director Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, recipes, and portion guidelines. Assist with food preparation, including washing, chopping, and measuring ingredients. Ensure food is prepared and served in compliance with all health and sanitation regulations. Monitor food quality, temperature, and presentation standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen equipment, workstations, and storage areas. Properly store food and rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures. Assist with receiving and stocking deliveries. Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance concerns promptly. Follow all food handling, safety, and sanitation procedures. Work cooperatively with kitchen staff, volunteers, and other team members. Assist with special events, catering, or community meal programs as assigned. Deliver food as needed for our Meals on Wheels Program. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous cooking or food service experience. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to follow recipes and portion controls. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed. Preferred Food Handler Card or ability to obtain one upon hire. Experience preparing meals for large groups or institutional settings. Experience working with seniors, nonprofits, or community-based organizations. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks. Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet kitchen environments.
Pay:
$20.00 - $21.00 per hour
