You will make sure the kitchen stays stocked, organized, and compliant with all health and safety rules. This job requires you to work quickly, pay attention to details, and work closely with the line cooks and Chefs.
Key Responsibilities Food Preparation:
Wash, peel, chop, and slice vegetables, fruits, and meats. Measure and cut meats and cheeses according to exact rules.
Recipe Execution:
Make simple dishes, sauces, and dressings. Prepare parts of more complex menu items by following standard recipes and exact portion sizes.
Kitchen Readiness:
Keep your work station fully stocked, organized, and clean before, during, and after your shift.
Inventory & Rotation:
Check food supplies. Label, date, and rotate products using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method so that older food is used first and nothing goes to waste.
Safety & Sanitation:
Keep your workspace clean. Follow all local health department rules, cleaning standards, and safe food handling steps. Skills and Qualifications Experience as a Prep Cook or in a similar kitchen job is preferred. Knowledge of health and safety rules, good kitchen knife skills, and food prep habits. Ability to read, understand, and easily follow standard recipes. Strong communication skills and a great teamwork attitude. Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
