Full Job Description Position Summary:
Cook (Mental Health Facility) Must pass a Level 2 background check - The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality meals in accordance with established recipes, nutrition guidelines, and safety standards. This role ensures a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment while contributing to a positive dining experience for all residents, patients, staff, and visitors. Key Responsibilities Food Preparation & Cooking Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary requirements. Ensure portion control, consistency, and presentation standards are met. Assist in meal setup, service, and plating. Prepare alternative menu items for individuals with dietary restrictions or preferences. Food Safety & Sanitation Adhere to all state and local health department regulations. Follow proper food handling, storage, and labeling procedures. Maintain proper food temperatures during preparation, holding, and serving. Keep workstations, equipment, and food-prep areas clean and sanitized at all times. Kitchen Operations Assist with receiving and storing deliveries. Rotate stock and minimize food waste. Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately. Follow daily prep lists, production sheets, and kitchen schedules. Teamwork & Communication Work collaboratively with chefs, dietary staff, and other team members. Support training and onboarding of new culinary staff as needed. Maintain positive, respectful communication with staff, residents, and management. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Prior cooking experience required; healthcare or institutional cooking experience is a plus. Knowledge of food safety standards (ServSafe certification required). Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong time-management and organizational skills. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for long periods. Lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs. Work in hot, fast-paced environments.
