Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and energetic Preschool Cook to join our vibrant early childhood education team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing meals that support Child Care Food Program and the health and development of preschool-aged children. Your expertise will help create a positive mealtime experience, fostering a nurturing environment where children can enjoy healthy foods. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine culinary skills with a love for working with children, ensuring their dietary needs are met with care and professionalism. Duties Prepare and cook balanced, kid-friendly meals and snacks in accordance with food program guidelines, dietary guidelines and safety standards Plan weekly menus that incorporate nutritious ingredients and cater to various dietary restrictions or allergies Ensure food handling procedures comply with food safety regulations to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment Assist in food presentation to make meals visually appealing and encourage healthy eating habits among children Maintain inventory of kitchen supplies, order ingredients as needed, and manage stock levels efficiently Support meal service by portioning food accurately and serving meals in a timely manner Collaborate with staff to coordinate meal times and ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy periods Experience Previous experience working in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable Proven background in food preparation, cooking, and food service within a restaurant or catering environment Knowledge of menu planning, food handling, and food safety practices is essential Experience with culinary techniques, including knife skills and meal preparation for large groups or children Familiarity with the food industry standards related to kitchen operations and food safety regulations Prior work in fine dining or restaurant settings can be beneficial but is not required; enthusiasm for creating wholesome meals is key Strong organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment Join us to make a meaningful difference in young lives through nutritious, delicious meals!
