Job Description

Essential Duties:
Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in accordance with portion control, therapeutic diets, scheduled menus, and sanitary regulations. Review menus prior preparation of food and inspect special diet trays to ensure accurate food preparation. Wash, cut, slice, and prepare fruits and vegetables for salads, desserts or further cooking. Cook food progressively, in a timely manner, to present the food in its best possible condition. Assists in ordering, unloading, inspecting and storing incoming food and verify packing lists. Keeps kitchen clean and orderly by washing counters and cooking utensils, and by cleaning stoves, ovens, grills and refrigerators. Ensures that mealtimes are met with substitution options. Ensures that food is served and maintained at the correct temperature. Maintains temperature logs. Is knowledgeable in food safety, sanitation, and time & temperature requirements. Understands recipes and portion control. Prepare and cook food for the residents of an assisted living facility.
Standard Requirements:
Is knowledgeable of resident rights Quality Improvement and compliance with all regulatory requirements and policy and procedures Supports and participates in common teamwork: Cooperates and works together with all co-workers. Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations. Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns if applicable. Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned. Must pass a Level II Background Fingerprinting. Must have up to date TB shot. Previous experience recommended.
