Responsibilities Prepare and cook a variety of soul food dishes, including classics like fried chicken, collard greens, cornbread, and sweet potato pie, ensuring each plate meets high standards of taste and presentation. Plan menus that highlight traditional flavors while incorporating seasonal ingredients and dietary considerations. Handle food preparation tasks such as chopping, marinating, seasoning, and assembling ingredients efficiently and safely. Maintain strict adherence to food safety protocols and proper food handling procedures to ensure a clean and compliant kitchen environment. Collaborate with team members to coordinate meal service during busy hours, ensuring timely delivery of hot and fresh dishes. Assist in catering events or special functions by preparing large quantities of soul food items with precision and care. Keep the kitchen organized by managing inventory, rotating stock, and ensuring all equipment is clean and operational. Qualifications Proven experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide within healthcare or institutional settings is highly desirable. Strong background in food industry roles such as restaurant or catering experience, especially with soul or comfort foods. Demonstrated culinary skills with proficiency in food preparation, cooking techniques, knife skills, and meal assembly. Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling procedures. Experience with menu planning that balances flavor, nutrition, and dietary restrictions. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
