Through our farm, culinary programs, and events, we aim to inspire a deeper relationship with food, place, and each other. The Cook plays a central role on the culinary team, executing daily production and service tasks to deliver thoughtful, high-quality food across experiences, events, and retail offerings. This position is responsible for prep and line cooking, maintaining kitchen standards, and helping ensure seamless service. The role suits a detail-oriented, dependable cook who is passionate about fresh, locally sourced ingredients and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Schedule & Compensation Full-time, $30
  • 35/ hour DOE Primarily afternoon into evening availability as needed Weekend and holiday availability required Key Responsibilities Execute daily prep: washing, cutting, portioning, and storing ingredients with consistent quality Run assigned stations during service and plate dishes to specification Follow and refine recipes, prep lists, and production schedules from Chef de Cuisine and Executive Chef Maintain cleanliness, organization, and mise en place across kitchen and prep areas Support inventory management, labeling, FIFO storage, and assist with receiving deliveries from local farmers and vendors Uphold all health, safety, and sanitation standards and ensure food safety compliance Train and mentor Prep Cooks and kitchen assistants as needed Assist with menu execution, small-batch preparations, and quality control during events and farm tours Contribute to a positive, team-oriented kitchen culture and help troubleshoot service issues Qualifications 2+ years of professional kitchen experience or demonstrated leadership on the line Strong knife skills and solid foundational culinary techniques; experience running a station Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and consistency Reliable, punctual, and able to take and provide direction constructively Passion for local food systems, regenerative agriculture, and hospitality Food safety certification required or willingness to obtain Optional / Preferred Experience with catering or events, small-batch production, or retail food preparation Familiarity with seasonal menus and working directly with local producers What We Value A collaborative, team-first mindset Pride in craftsmanship and consistency Curiosity and willingness to learn Respect for ingredients, farmers, and the land A genuine desire to contribute to meaningful guest experiences Why Join Common Ground • Work with exceptional local ingredients sourced directly from our farm and partners • Be part of a mission-driven organization rooted in community and place • Opportunity for growth within a dynamic and evolving culinary program • Contribute to a one-of-a-kind hospitality experience in Hawaiʻi How to
