Driver's License Full Job Description Purpose:
The Food Service Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals that meet the dietary needs of patients in accordance with healthcare regulations and facility guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Prepares and cooks meals. Ensures food is cooked and served at safe temperatures according to food safety standards. Sets up and maintains workstations in a clean, organized, and sanitary manner. Monitors and records food storage, refrigeration, and labeling to meet health code standards. Reports any signs of illness to Food Service Manager. Collaborates with Kavanagh staff to ensure timely meal service. Cleans kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas after use. Receives and stores food deliveries, rotating stock and checking expiration dates. Complies with facility protocols regarding infection control and sanitation. Reports any equipment issues or food shortages to the Food Service Manager.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age High school diploma or GED Holds current food handler's certification or must be completed within 6 months of hire (ServSafe or other accredited program) Previous experience in food service or healthcare dietary setting strongly preferred Knowledge of special diets and modified food textures (e.g., mechanical soft, thickened liquids) Strong time management and teamwork skills Compassionate and respectful attitude toward employees, patients and families Basic written and verbal communication skills Basic keyboarding and computer skills with ability to learn work related software Must have a valid driver's license, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation if driving is required Successful completion of pre-employment physical, drug screen, 2- step TB test and background check
Working Conditions:
Physical requirements: Medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Environment:
Hazards (chemicals, infectious diseases), Atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dust, mist, gases)

Work hours based on patient-driven census model (availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays• These characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
