Job Description

What You'll Do As a Therapeutic Dietary Cook, you will play a key role in maintaining the health and well-being of the individuals we serve by preparing meals that meet physician-ordered and therapeutic dietary requirements. Daily Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus and standardized recipes Follow therapeutic and modified diet plans including diabetic, low-sodium, texture-modified, and pureed diets Ensure meals are visually appealing, nutritious, and properly portioned Monitor food temperatures and maintain required documentation Label, date, and store food items safely to prevent spoilage and waste Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas Follow all food safety, infection control, and sanitation guidelines Assist with inventory management, stocking, and receiving food deliveries Work collaboratively with nursing staff, therapy staff, supervisors, and dietitians Prepare refreshments and food items for special events and activities Help ensure an organized, efficient, and welcoming kitchen environment Preferred Qualifications Experience in healthcare, long-term care, rehabilitation, residential services, or food service environments Knowledge of therapeutic diets and food safety procedures Food Handler Permit or ServSafe Certification preferred High school diploma, GED, or related work experience/training Skills & Abilities Strong attention to detail, especially regarding dietary restrictions and food preparation Ability to follow recipes and dietary instructions accurately Excellent time management and organizational skills Ability to work independently and within a team environment Professional communication and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout shifts Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment and tools
