Overview Society Table is opening its doors as a 40-seat Southern comfort food restaurant where our motto, "Where everyone has a seat," shapes everything from the menu to the kitchen culture. We're hiring cooks who take pride in doing the classics right: crispy fried chicken, slow-simmered greens, cornbread with a proper crust, and the kind of dishes that make people close their eyes on the first bite. You'll work in a tight-knit kitchen where consistency, cleanliness, and care for the craft matter. Experience with Southern or scratch cooking is a plus, but heart and willingness to learn go a long way here. Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items to Society Table's recipes and quality standards, ensuring every plate reflects the care our guests expect Set up and stock your station with all necessary supplies before each service Work an assigned station (grill, fry, sauté, pantry, etc.) during service and assist other stations as needed Follow prep lists and recipes accurately, including portioning, seasoning, and plating specifications Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout the shift in compliance with health and safety standards Monitor food inventory at your station and communicate low stock or quality concerns to the kitchen lead Properly label, date, and store all food items following FIFO (first in, first out) practices Operate kitchen equipment safely, including fryers, flat tops, ovens, slicers, and knives Participate in opening, closing, and deep-cleaning duties as assigned Communicate clearly and respectfully with other cooks, servers, and management during service Support a positive kitchen culture that lives up to our motto, "Where everyone has a seat" Requirements 1+ year of line cook or related kitchen experience preferred (Southern, scratch, or comfort food experience is a plus) Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, knife skills, and food safety practices Valid food handler's card (or willingness to obtain one before start date) Ability to read and follow recipes, prep lists, and ticket orders accurately Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, especially during peak hours Able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work around heat, steam, and sharp tools Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays as needed Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player Commitment to cleanliness, consistency, and treating coworkers and guests with respect
