Cook, Senior - Veterans Services at Idaho Division of Human Resources in Post Falls, Idaho, United States Job Description State of Idaho Opportunity Idaho Division of Veterans Services - Caring for America's Heroes The Idaho Division of Veterans Services (IDVS) is looking for an exceptional Cook, Senior at the Veterans Home in Post Falls who can add value to our amazing team. The ideal candidate for this position coordinates cooking services; prepares, cooks, portions, and serves food for daily meals; performs related work. We work hard to be team-focused, to celebrate our staff, and to end our workday knowing that we've made a difference in the lives of our residents.
Responsibilities:
+ Prepare meals, including special diets, ensuring food quality, safety, and flavor + Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, assigning tasks and ensuring proper food handling + Assist with tray line service, ensuring timely and accurate meal service + Help plan menus, manage inventory, and assist with food purchasing + Inspect, rotate, and put away food deliveries, write diet cards, and make menu substitutions and needed + Washing and sanitizing kitchen dishes and equipment + Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Some knowledge of: + Food values, basic nutrition in the preparation of special diets + Supervisory practices Good knowledge of: + Methods and materials used to prepare foods for large-scale institutional use + Use and care of cooking utensils and equipment + Sanitation and safety practices used in food handling and preparation
Experience:
+ Performing large-scale quantity cooking + Training others in food preparation and serving + Following recipes and menus + Calculating volume measurements used in cooking
