Finish Cook Expediter (FCE) Uncle Remus Saucy Fried Chicken Chicago, IL Job Details Part-time From $17.25 an hour 11 hours ago Benefits Paid training Health insurance Paid time off Employee discount Qualifications Food production Food handling Packing High school diploma or GED Meal preparation Full Job Description Finish Cook Expediter (FCE) Position Summary The Finish Cook Expediter (FCE) is responsible for preparing, finishing, and expediting food items based on standardized Uncle Remus recipes while maintaining the highest quality standards. The FCE ensures timely and accurate order preparation, cleanliness, and sanitation in all kitchen and work areas. This role is critical to both product quality and speed of service, ensuring guests receive an appealing and appetizing product while minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up workstation and prepare ingredients for cooking according to Uncle Remus guidelines. Prepare pre-cooked to finish-cooked items with accuracy and speed. Expedite orders with attention to time constraints, packaging, wrapping, and sending out accurate tickets. Assume 100% responsibility for the preparation, finishing, and quality of products served. Assist cooks in preparing and cooking food when needed. Execute proper knife handling and safely operate all kitchen equipment. Promptly report equipment repairs, food quality issues, or shortages to the Manager. Comply consistently with stated standard portion sizes, cooking methods, recipes, and kitchen procedures. Portion food products prior to cooking according to specifications. Monitor and record food temperatures as required. Handle, store, label, and rotate all products properly and in accordance with state laws. Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation and follow all company and
COVID-19
sanitizing/disinfecting procedures. Perform all job duties safely, following company policies and reporting maintenance needs promptly. Participate in monthly all-staff meetings. Complete other assigned duties and responsibilities as required. (The above statements describe the general nature and level of work performed. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of duties.) Minimum Qualifications High school education or equivalent required. At least six (6) months to one (1) year of previous culinary experience required. Must have open availability including weekends and holidays. Must be a resident of the State of Illinois within 90 days of hire. Must obtain a State of Illinois-recognized food handler certification within 30 days of employment. U.S. citizenship required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must be able to model Uncle Remus culture in every interaction and relationship. Skilled in safe, sanitary, and effective handling of food, cooking utensils, and kitchen equipment. Highly accountable, reliable, and prompt, with a strong work ethic. Able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Flexible, adaptable, and willing to accept constructive feedback. Strong communication skills with the ability to follow direction and ask questions when clarification is needed. Proactive, self-starting, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Consistently meet sanitation, food handling, quality, and presentation standards.
