Job Description

Ballyhoo Hospitality Group is seeking a talented, hospitality focused Line Cook to join our new opening of Zenzi Den in Glenview. Glenview is a beautiful, modern town that is easily accessible from the city via a quick train ride or a short commute off I-94.
Concept Overview:
Tucked into downtown Glenview, Zenzi Den is Ballyhoo Hospitality's newest concept, arriving Spring 2026. The space blends Japanese-inspired comfort with a buzzy, come-as-you-are energy, layered with natural textures and intentional design. Thoughtfully sourced meats, seafood, and vegetables hit the robata grill, where live fire does what it does best, deep flavor, real soul. Whether you're settling in for a low-key dinner or gathering the crew, Zenzi Den brings Ballyhoo's signature feel-good dining and genuinely warm hospitality to the table.
Job Summary:
It is the primary responsibility of the Line Cook to perform advanced cooking procedures to the standards of the Executive Chef; under the direct supervision of Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef and/or Sous Chef. The Cook operates a specific station with others or independently. All duties are to be performed in accordance with the restaurant's policies, practices and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Follows recipes and SOP when preparing all menu dishes Knowing the proper techniques of cooking seafood, meat and vegetables. Understanding of preparing stocks, soups and sauces Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items using recipes for cooking in broilers, ovens, sous vide, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment. Ability and willingness to work all stations in the kitchen time of need. Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and adhere to safe work practices. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Related Skills and Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of fine dining food preparation, food handling, safety, and other restaurant guidelines. Excellent time management skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Prior experience in Japanese culinary arts is advantageous. Ability to remain calm during high volume service or difficult situations. Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays. High school diploma or equivalent work experience. A minimum of 2 years of culinary experience in fine dining establishments.
