Job Description

The Hyatt Regency Schaumburg is an upscale hotel located across from the Woodfield Mall and just 15 minutes from O'Hare. The Hyatt Regency Schaumburg was recently renovated to satisfy a discerning clientele who share a common need for value without sacrifice. An integral part of the Hyatt Regency Schaumburg's success will be attributed to the this position with a hands on approach to guest satisfaction and service team stewardship will dictate first and lasting impressions people have of the Hyatt Regency Schaumburg. We are immediately hiring a PM Line Cook. This role involves preparing and cooking a variety of hot and cold food items while maintaining high standards of quality, presentation, and safety. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in culinary skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Food Preparation & Cooking:
Prepare a variety of hot and cold food items, including salads, desserts, cold appetizers, grilled ingredients, and cooked vegetables. Ensure all dishes are made with precision, consistency, and attention to detail.
Kitchen Equipment Use:
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, including grills, deep fryers, ovens, electric slicers, and standard kitchen utensils such as knives, tongs, and spatulas, following all safety protocols.
Inventory & Stock Management:
Retrieve, organize, and store ingredients properly in refrigerators, freezers, and pantry areas. Rotate stock, label items with expiration dates, and ensure freshness of all ingredients.
Sanitation & Cleanliness:
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work environment, including food preparation areas, storage spaces, and kitchen equipment. Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with fellow kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation, assist in plating and garnishing dishes, and contribute to smooth kitchen operations during peak service times.
Food Presentation:
Ensure dishes are assembled and presented attractively, meeting quality and visual standards.

Proficiency in preparing a wide range of dishes, including using kitchen tools and appliances like grills, fryers, slicers, and ovens. Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a high-pressure environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to consistently produce high-quality, well-prepared, and beautifully presented dishes. Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work efficiently, especially during busy periods, while ensuring all food is prepared on time and to the required standards. Ability to stand for long periods, lift and carry heavy items, and work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment. Must have open availability. This is a PM position with shifts starting between 2:30pm and 4pm. Flexibility is required based on business needs, including potential overtime, holiday and weekend shifts. Total hours based on business levels.
Pay:
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour
