The Laurel at Vernon Hills Memory Care, located in Vernon Hills, IL is seeking a passionate, professional, and customer-oriented Cook to provide an extraordinary dining experience for the residents in our community. COOK (Cooking Experience Needed) Responsibilities of the Cook Preparation and service of quality meals for all residents including those with special diet needs. Follows menu program or an approved substitute menu to ensure that nutritional needs and preferences of the residents are met. Ensures plate presentation is attractive and appetizing for the resident population. Assist in planning and coordinating special events for marketing and activities. Continuously monitor and appropriately address resident concerns and preferences. Adheres to proper food handling and sanitation guidelines. Ensure residents are provided privacy, respect, and dignity. Follows standard precautions and infection control procedures. Completes state required training upon hire and annually. Required Experience Possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one (1) year prior cooking experience is preferred. Illinois Food Handle and SERV Safe certified preferred. Experience in using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.) Basic computer skills. Must be able to speak, read, and write in the English language. Job Type Full Time and Part Time -we are hiring for both. Hours vary between AM/PM shifts, including weekends.
