Job Description
School nutrition programs are an important part of the total educational environment. As a member of the educational team, each employee has a direct relationship to the overall success of the program. Food service employees do more than produce food and serve it. They contribute to the development and well-being of the students.
General Responsibilities:
- Know and/or learn kitchen measurement tools and how to use them, re: read and follow recipes.
- Prepare or assist in preparing food as instructed by your Kitchen Manager, including baking, cooking, etc.
- Assist with service of food to students and adults as assigned using portion control standards.
- Complete clean-up duties, mopping and dishwashing duties as assigned.
- Follow proper food handling to maintain food quality and ensure food safety.
- Operate kitchen equipment in a proper manner to assure personal safety as well as to avoid damage to the equipment.
- Maintain job skills to perform assigned duties and take advantage of training programs available.
- Follow HACCP standard operating procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.
