We've been part of the Lenexa community since 1997, and our kitchen is the heart of our day. The schedule Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (Core work hours) — about 15 to 20 hours per week . Perfect for someone who wants meaningful daytime work without a full-time commitment: parents with school-age kids, semi-retired cooks, culinary students, or anyone looking for a steady weekday morning shift. Flexibility to work between 4 and 5 days per week is possible. What you'll do Prepare and serve a hot lunch and two snacks for our classrooms each day Follow planned menus that meet CACFP meal pattern requirements Keep accurate meal counts and production records Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen Help order and receive food and kitchen supplies Accommodate allergies and dietary needs with care and attention to detail What we're looking for Genuine warmth toward young children (you'll see them daily and they'll know your name) Reliable attendance — our kids count on lunch every day Experience cooking in volume (school, daycare, hospital, cafeteria, catering, or restaurant) Strong food safety habits Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods Required Kansas food handler certification (or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire) Ability to pass a KBI background check and KDHE fingerprinting Negative TB test (or willing to obtain) Nice to have CACFP experience ServSafe certification Familiarity with allergen-conscious cooking Why work with us We're a small, family-owned preschool under new ownership committed to building a workplace where staff feel respected and supported.
