Work Hours:
Monday - Friday, 5:00 AM - 10:00 AM (Hours may extend based on production needs)
Position Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing meals for a community meal program while maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation. This role requires professional cooking experience and the ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented kitchen environment. Essential Functions /
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook meals according to recipes and production schedules Ensure food is prepared safely and meets quality standards Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times Monitor food inventory and notify management of supply needs Assist with food preparation, portioning, and packaging as needed Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to meet daily meal production goals
Minimum Requirements:
Professional cooking experience required Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment Strong attention to detail and quality standards Reliable attendance and punctuality
Skills Required:
Food preparation and cooking techniques Time management and organization Food safety and sanitation compliance Attention to detail and quality control Teamwork and communication
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in commercial, institutional, or high-volume food service kitchens Experience preparing large quantities of meals Food Handler Certification preferred
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Commercial kitchen environment with exposure to heat, cooking equipment, and food preparation areas Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed Use of commercial kitchen equipment and utensils
