Job Summary:

Responsible to nursing home administrator/assistant/food service director for the performance of the duties as described in the task assignment.

Essential Job Functions:

• Prepares food according to menu and guidelines using proper food handling techniques.
• Serve food according to specific diets.
• Be aware of food allergies and make dietitian aware so appropriate substitutes may be made.
• Clean and sanitized work area utensils and equipment according to sanitation guidelines and regulations.
• Completes dish room task to clean and sanitize dishes.
• Checks freezers and refrigeration temperatures as mandated daily and maintain records.
• Other duties as assigned which may include daily schedules, sweeping, mopping, cleaning tables and shelves along with other monthly cleaning procedures and schedules.
• Attend staff and other meetings as required and mandated.
• Participate in service education programs.
• Abide by all facilities policies and procedures.
• Always maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Report any unsafe acts or conditions to the administrator of food service director, dietitian or assistant administrator.
• Must exhibit mature responsible behavior and understand the need for resident confidentiality.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Education and Experience High school or vocational school graduate or equivalent or working towards diploma. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be able to follow directions. Must have available, reliable transportation to and from work.
