Job Description

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook/Baker to join our culinary team at Caldwell County Middle School. This full-time position plays a vital role in preparing nutritious and appealing meals for students while ensuring a safe and clean kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking and baking, a strong understanding of food safety practices, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced setting. Responsibilities Prepare and cook a variety of meals and baked goods according to established recipes and nutritional guidelines. Ensure all food is prepared in a safe and sanitary manner, adhering to food safety regulations and standards. Assist in menu planning, taking into consideration dietary restrictions and preferences of students. Maintain inventory of food supplies and ingredients, placing orders as necessary to ensure adequate stock levels. Monitor food quality and presentation, making adjustments as needed to meet standards. Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas regularly to maintain a hygienic environment. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to coordinate meal service and manage workflow efficiently. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance culinary skills and knowledge. Assist with special events and catering needs as required. Perform other related duties as assigned by the kitchen manager or school administration. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree or relevant certification preferred. Proven experience in cooking and baking, preferably in a school or institutional setting. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards. Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively. Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items as needed. Commitment to providing high-quality meals that meet the nutritional needs of students.
